Read MoreNorthern Midlands Council recently invited community feedback on a proposed amendment to the Tasmanian Planning Scheme, which would have rezoned agricultural land on the eastern fringe of Evandale and expanded the Evandale Specific Area Plan. The consultation, held from 12 July to 4 August 2025, included an information session attended by over 140 community members and resulted in 52 submissions from 80 individuals—98% of which opposed the amendment. After considering community input, Council voted on 15 September 2025 not to proceed with the proposed changes.
