Council Decisions and Approvals
1. Development Application Approved
Approval was granted for an illuminated ground-based sign at 22 Tannery Road, Longford.
2. Recreational Vehicle Facilities Policy Update
The policy was updated to include a dump station at the Cressy Recreation Ground.
3. Live Streaming Policy Amendments
Minor updates to the policy governing live streaming of council meetings were endorsed.
4. Monthly Financial Report
The financial report for the period ending 20 November 2024 was received and noted.
5. Policy Updates
Amendments to several policies were endorsed, including:
• Accounting
• Information Management
• Privacy
• Fraud and Corruption
• Copyright
6. Weed Management Strategic Plan
The Northern Midlands Weed Management Strategic Plan 2024-2029 was endorsed and will be included in 2025/2026 budget considerations.
7. No Spray Register Policy
Council endorsed the No Spray Register Policy.
8. Stormwater Main Construction in Cressy
Funds allocated for kerb and footpath replacement on Main Street, Cressy, were redirected to build a new stormwater main from Charles and Church Streets to 71 Main Street.
9. Mobile Food Vendors Policy Addition
An update was made to the Mobile Food Vendors Policy, extending provisions to Avoca.
10. Community Organisations on Council Website
A motion was approved to prepare a report on including community organisations on the council webpage.
11. Wellington Street Repairs
A motion was endorsed to prepare a report for road repairs on Wellington Street for council consideration.
Completed Works
Laycock Street Park, Longford: New Park facilities were funded by the Australian Government’s Local Road and Community Infrastructure Fund and the Quarter Court was funded through State Government’s Open Spaces Program Round One.
Projects in Progress
1. Longford Urban Design (Village Green to Mill Dam Shared Pathway awaiting approval)
Funded by the Australian Government’s Community Development Grants Program.
2. Ashby Road Upgrade
Supported by the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Fund.
3. Longford Rail Bridge Pillars
A 2021 State Government Election Commitment.
4. Basketball/Netball Quarter Courts
Courts are being constructed in Ross, Cressy, and Perth through the State Government’s Open Spaces Program Round One
5. Perth and Campbell Town Main Street Upgrades
Funded by the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program.
6. Ross Men’s Shed Expansion
Supported by the Australian Government’s Investing in Communities Program.
7. Breadalbane to Youngtown Shared Pathway
Funded by the State Government’s Active Transport in Tasmania Grants Program.
