Pool Lifeguards

We are seeking responsible and reliable people to join the Pool Lifeguards team over the Summer season (December 2023 until March 2024). If you are physically fit and a strong swimmer then this could be the perfect summer job and would suit anyone looking for some extra work!

About the role

We are willing to train successful candidates in the required Pool Lifeguard and First Aid qualifications, or provide the refresher training if you have previously held this qualification. You must hold or obtain a current Working With Vulnerable People Check before the season commences.

Your duties will revolve around the supervision of all pool areas to ensure the safety of the patrons using our facilities (located in Cressy, Campbell Town and Ross). You must be able to demonstrate strong customer service and verbal communication skills, with the ability to proactively supervise and instruct patrons on behaviour and safety in a swimming pool environment. An understanding of and the ability to adhere to work health and safety practices and procedures is also required.

Regular shifts are available from 3pm to 6pm weekdays, and 1pm to 6pm on weekends and public holidays. There is also some morning shifts available as required throughout the season. The casual flat base rate is $34.72.

About you

On a personal level, you will need to have a good work ethic, be self-motivated, be reliable and able to work autonomously. As these positions supervise patrons of our municipal pools and often work autonomously, the minimum age requirement is eighteen years of age.

If you do not hold the required First Aid or Pool Lifeguard qualifications, you must be available for the training course on both 18/11/2023 and 19/11/2023. To pass this course, you will need to have good general fitness and swimming skills, and on completion of the training provided be able to demonstrate the ability to confidently swim 200 meters, the ability to retrieve an object from a depth of less than 2 meters, and the ability to complete a 25-meter swim and then 25-meter non-contact tow.
