Casual Cleaner (North)

The Northern Midlands Council is seeking to recruit an experienced cleaner to join the team on a Casual basis. This role is primarily for leave cover and for ad-hoc cleaning requirements at our various public facilities. Hours will be vary variable. Facilities are located throughout the municipality and include Longford, Perth, Cressy, and Evandale.

Reporting to the Works Supervisor, the successful applicants will provide routine cleaning tasks for a range of community facilities and venues. This includes cleaning of public toilets, recreation facilities, or halls and centres used for community events.

This is a casual role with variable hours and there is no minimum guaranteed hours each fortnight.

Where possible you will be given access to a Council vehicle to travel, however there will be occasions where you need to use your own vehicle (and you will be paid a cents per kilometer allowance).

The ideal candidate will take pride in delivering high quality work and be able to work independently and be able to meet deadlines. You will need sound verbal communication skills as you will be interacting with the public as you undertake your tasks, and you will have a sound understanding of the health and safety risks and requirements associated with your role.

Candidates must possess current Australian work rights, including Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work visa.

You must:

  • Have previous experience as a commercial cleaner, including outside facilities

  • Have good attention to detail and pride in your work

  • Have your own vehicle

  • Be reliable and punctual

  • Undertake and pass a pre-employment medical including a urine drug & alcohol test and a musculoskeletal and fitness assessment

  • Be able to provide a police check showing no serious offences

Hours will vary, given the casual nature of these positions and terms and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Northern Midlands Enterprise Agreement 2025-2028.
