Community Safety & Services
Driver Reviver Station – Campbell Town
Council resolved to support the SES in identifying a new location for the Driver Reviver Station, away from Valentines Park, ensuring continued engagement with travellers while supporting local businesses.
Flood Management Initiatives
- Flood Hazard Mapping: Council acknowledged input from the SES on the updated mapping of flood-prone areas in Perth, Campbell Town, and Ross.
- Longford Detailed Flood Study: SES will initiate a new study in Longford, co-funded with Council, to improve understanding and planning for future flood events.
Community Recognition & Place Naming
Ross Signage Naming – MAKALA
Council supported investigating the use of the Aboriginal name for Ross and potential updates to township signage, following a request from the Ross Local District Committee.
Spotlight on Heritage
Longford Historic Motorsport Collection
Council deferred a decision on formally backing the Rob Knott motorsport memorabilia collection. A three-month community consultation will now explore public interest in retaining the collection locally as a self-sustaining attraction.
Planning for the Future
Climate Resilience Strategy 2025–2028
Council endorsed in-principle the draft Climate Resilience Strategy, accompanying web content, and media release. The strategy will be updated as flood zone information evolves.
Community Directory
Council reaffirmed its support for the Northern Midlands Business Association in managing and updating the region’s Community Directory.
Representation & Engagement
National Representation
- Cr Brooks will represent Council at the 2025 ALGA National Local Roads, Transport & Infrastructure Congress in Bendigo.
- Cr Lambert has been endorsed as Council’s representative on the Northern Midlands Business Association Board.
Dog Management Policy Review
Council approved the release of the revised Dog Management Policy and Code of Responsible Dog Ownership for public consultation. Feedback will inform the final version.
Monthly Financial Report & Budget Planning
- Council received the May 2025 Financial Report and endorsed several budget adjustments.
- A Special Meeting will be held on Monday 7 July at 4.00pm to consider the proposed 2025/26 Budget.
