Campbell Town Streetscape Project Stage 2 to Proceed in Three Phases
Residents, businesses and visitors will soon see progress continue on the next stage of the Campbell Town Streetscape Development Project, with Northern Midlands Council releasing a staging plan for the delivery of Stage 2 works.
The Campbell Town Streetscape Development Project is a long-term investment in the township's appearance, functionality and safety. Council has worked over recent years to secure funding through the Australian Government's Priority Community Infrastructure Program to help deliver improvements along High Street.
Like many infrastructure projects across Australia, the project has been affected by rising construction costs. As a result, Stage 2 will now be delivered in three phases to ensure works can continue while Council seeks further funding opportunities to complete the broader vision for the township.
Phase 1 will focus on upgrades to the High and King Street intersection and surrounding parking areas, including areas adjacent to the Campbell Town IGA, Campbell Town Hotel and JJ's Bakery, Harmony on High, and 117 High Street. The works have been designed to improve pedestrian safety, accessibility and the overall visitor experience in one of the town's busiest areas. Phase 1 will also include the installation of additional perpendicular (90-degree) parking spaces in Queen Street.
Phase 2 will focus on the Esplanade intersection and the eastern side of High Street, while Phase 3 will deliver improvements along the western side of High Street.
Northern Midlands Council remains committed to pursuing additional funding to complete the remaining streetscape improvements between King Street and the Esplanade and to continue enhancing Campbell Town as a welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike. [24029-CTSD...raftV3.pdf | PDF]
