Campbell Town Hall: Council Enters Unconditional Contract for Sale, Ensuring a Vibrant Future for Community Services
Posted on December 05, 2025
The Northern Midlands Council is pleased to announce a major milestone for the Campbell Town Town Hall. After a process that began in 2019, involving years of careful planning, community consultation, and consideration of community feedback, Council has now entered into an unconditional contract for the sale of the historic Town Hall at 75-77 High Street, Campbell Town.
This sale reflects Council’s commitment to transparency and responsible management of community assets. Throughout the journey, Council has actively engaged with residents, user groups, and stakeholders, ensuring that community interests have remained central to every decision.
Settlement of the sale is scheduled for the first quarter of the new year. This will usher in a new era for the Hall, with new users and activities set to bring fresh energy and opportunities to this iconic building. The Hall’s unique heritage and central location will continue to make it a focal point for Campbell Town’s social and cultural life.
Council has ensured that key community services will continue to operate from the Hall. Service Tasmania and the Campbell Town Museum and Information Centre will remain in the Hall, providing ongoing support and information for residents and visitors. Council recognises the importance of these services and is committed to maintaining their accessibility and continuity.
Council looks forward to continuing its strong support for the Campbell Town Museum and Information Centre, which is managed and operated by dedicated community volunteers. The Centre plays a vital role in preserving and sharing Campbell Town’s rich history, and Council deeply values the contribution of volunteers who ensure its ongoing success. Council remains committed to working collaboratively with the Committee’s volunteer team to maintain and enhance this important community asset.
The proceeds from the sale of Campbell Town Hall will be reinvested throughout the local community, supporting projects and initiatives that benefit residents and visitors alike. While a specific project has not yet been identified, Council is committed to ensuring that these funds deliver meaningful improvements and lasting value for Campbell Town and the wider Northern Midlands region.
This sale aligns with Council’s Strategic Plan 2021-2027, which prioritises sustainable management of public assets, economic growth, and the preservation of local heritage. By welcoming new users while retaining essential services, Council is confident that the Hall will continue to serve the evolving needs of the Campbell Town community for years to come.
