Northern Midlands Council is set to welcome 13 new Aussies on Australia Day
13 residents will become our newest citizens during a special citizenship ceremony at Campbell Town Recreation Ground this Australia Day 26 January 2026
The ceremony, to be held in on the lands of the tyerrernotepanner people of the lutrawita, will be one of the key events in our “Heart of the Midlands: Celebrating Community, Culture & Country” Australia Day celebrations.
Our new citizens are from 8 countries, including Nepal, Canada, Taiwan, Philippines, United States, United Kingdom, Inda and Nigeria and will join thousands of other Australians who are celebrating their citizenship in ceremonies to mark Australia Day.
Mayor Knowles OAM will preside over the ceremony, which will also include Australia Day awards for Citizens of the Year, Event of the Year and Volunteer Recognition awards, with a special guest – Australia Day Ambassador John Zeckendorf. John was the first Tasmanian to climb Everest and the first 1st Tasmanian to reach all 7 summits.
There will also be the Choose the Scenic Route Photography Competition Exhibition with prize presentations to the winners of the Open and Junior categories.
Our Australia Day Sports Carnival - Splash, Sprint & Celebrate! Will be held at the swimming pool and recreation ground of the Campbell Town recreation ground with fun pool games and activities including a giant football .
