Hemp Community Education Day. Cressy
A fun event that showcases the many uses of industrial hemp. The venue is at the only Hemp Firbre processing facility in Tasnania, X-Hemp, at Cressy. This event is for all ages of the general public, and aims to demystify industrial hemp. Grown for centuries, hemp has recently been confused with marijuana. But industrial hemp has no drug value. it offers many benefits:
- sequestering more caron than trees,
- having a shorter growth cycle thatn wheat,
- remediating soil,
- using less water and fertisilser than most crops,
- providing building materials which (unlike the polluting concrete) are actually compostable,
- provides highly nutritious food and oil,
- is even used in electric BMC cars.
Fully catered and licensed, this event features talks, videos, displays of hemp products including a gorgeous hemp wedding dress, hemp wall, hemp sample bags to buy, hemp burgers and hemp drinks.
There is even live music, some played on a hemp guitar with a hemp amplifier, by local songstress Susanna Coleman-Brown. It's a great opportunity to network and make new friends.
Buses to Cressy included, from Hobart, Launceston, or Burnie.
