Located in the historic town of Evandale, just five minutes from the airport, our centre offers travel advice, history displays, art exhibitions, a community library, and internet access. About the role
Reporting to Council and working closely with the Committee, the Centre Coordinator will oversee daily operations, manage volunteers, liaise with local businesses and tourism operators, and maintain administrative, financial, and promotional systems. This role requires initiative, excellent communication skills, and a passion for community engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinating daily operations and ensuring the centre is welcoming and well-maintained
Providing travel advice and maintaining up-to-date brochures and website content
Managing volunteer recruitment, training, rosters, and communication
Liaising with local artists, history groups, and tourism stakeholders
Overseeing financial records, stocktake, and reporting
Maintaining IT systems and submitting maintenance requests
This role is based in Evandale and requires on-site attendance at the Information Centre. Ideally our successful candidate would be available to work 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday, for a portion of the centre's operating hours, however we can be flexible around scheduling of the work hours for the right candidate.
About you
You’ll be a confident communicator with strong organisational skills and a collaborative approach. You’ll have experience in customer service, volunteer coordination, and administrative systems, and be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Our ideal applicant will:
Have experience in tourism, community services, or visitor centre operations
Have strong knowledge of local and Tasmanian tourism activities
Have people management experience, either through work or volunteer activities
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Be proficient in Office 365, POS systems, and have good ICT proficiency
Have a current driver's licence
Hold a current Working with Vulnerable People registration, and
Hold a current First Aid Certificate (desirable)

Terms and conditions of employment, including salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant and in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement.
