Municipal Worker – Turf Wicket Curator (Casual)
A new casual opportunity exists for an experienced Groundsperson with extensive knowledge of the requirements for maintaining a turf cricket wicket to join the team over summer in Ross.

About the role
Working closely with Veteran’s Cricket Tasmania, this role will see the successful applicant ensuring the wicket and grounds at the Ross Recreation Ground are well maintained to support the operations of Veterans Cricket Tasmania Summer Season 2025/2026.
The role will be offered on a Casual basis until the end of March 2026, and will be a base requirements of 7 hours per week to be worked as 2.5 hours on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 2 hours on a Friday of each week. Additionally, the successful candidate must be available to put on and remove covers outside of these regular hours in response to unplanned weather events.
About you
To be successful in the role, we are looking for someone who:
- Has previous work experience in a similar role preparing and maintaining turf wickets
- Has extensive working knowledge of how to prepare, manage & maintain a cricket turf wicket and oval complex
- Has the knowledge and skills to accurately mark out new playing wickets
- Demonstrated ability to use a wicket mower at specific stages and at the recommended grass height
- Demonstrated ability to operate a wicket roller
- Experience operating roller, ride on mower, quad bike, and brush cutters
- Knowledge & ability to maintain and carry out minor repairs on equipment including the roller, wicker mower, ride on mower, quad bike and brush cutter
- Is committed to delivering quality outcomes
The successful applicants will be subject to a pre-employment medical and will be required to provide a national police check.
Our Culture and Benefits
Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement 2025-2028. Remuneration for this role is Level 3, Grade A under that agreement, that is a base hourly salary rate of $39.4863 inclusive of a 25% casual loading.
