About the roles

We are looking to create a pool of Casual labourers, plant operators, and drivers to be available on an ad-hoc basis over the coming 6 months.

We are looking for applicants who could fill a variety of roles including:

  • General labourers with civil works or commercial horticulture experience
  • Light Rigid & Medium Rigid vehicle operators
  • Holders of current Traffic Management qualification (RIIWHS205E & RIIWHS305E obtained or refreshed after 1 Jan 2021)
  • Plant & machinery operators with experience and tickets for backhoes, flocons, tractors, skid steers, bobcats, or commercial mowers

Availability of work will be intermittent and will be available to cover periods of leave, including short notice leave such as sick leave, and for peak work flows on capital projects and emergency working situations.

Applicants can specify periods of time that they are available for work and do not need to be available for the duration of the 6 months.

About you

All of the roles in our Casual pool will require you to be a self-motivated team player who has a good work ethic and good time management. In addition, you will have good communication skills and a commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of those around you.

To be considered for the casual pool, in addition to the specific qualifications for the role you are working in, you MUST have or be able to obtain (prior to commencement):

  • A current Tasmanian Drivers License;
  • A current Construction Industry White Card;
  • A Tasmanian Working With Vulnerable People clearance;
  • be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol testing) to determine your physical fitness to perform the role;
  • A current National Police Check showing no serious offences

Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement 2022-2025. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications of the applicant.
