About the role

This hands-on role will assist with organising and coordinating the allocation of resources and plant equipment, supervising resources in the maintenance and construction of municipal services and infrastructure, and working alongside our works team to undertake various civil construction and manual labouring duties.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be motivated and results driven by nature, you will have great people management skills and the ability to lead and support your team members. You will be organised, have good attention to detail, good memory recall, and able to manage competing priorities under pressure.

Our ideal candidate will be a qualified and experienced tradesman, or an experienced and capable labourer. For your application to be considered you must have:

  • previous experience working in the civil construction industry
  • previous experience as a Leading Hand, or managing works teams
  • Able to design and set out of kerb and channel
  • Knowledge of stormwater and drainage
  • Be able to communicate with the general public (Good communication skills)
  • Ability to work to timeline and budgets
  • proven ability to create and implement a works plan
  • a current Australian driver’s licence
  • truck licence and machinery skills as advantageous
  • be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol testing) to determine your physical fitness to perform the role.

This position is being offered on a full-time basis, working a nine-day fortnight, and will be based out of our Longford depot. Terms and conditions of employment, including salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant and in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement.
