Due to a recent successful trainee completion, we are now looking for a new trainee to work across all areas of Councils administration functions, and provide hands on learning and experience whilst completing your nationally recognised Cert III in Business Administration qualification through TasTAFE. This is a perfect opportunity for a young person to get a head-start on your career in local government in a supportive and friendly team and get paid while you study.

The salary for the role is covered by the traineeship provisions of the Local Government Industry Award 2020 and will vary depending on your highest school achievement level and years out of school.

About you

To be successful in the role, we are looking for someone who:

  • Is a quick-learner and is keen to keep studying further,
  • Has great communication skills, both written and verbal,
  • Is good at problem solving and can think on their feet,
  • Is passionate about our beautiful Northern Midlands community,
  • Is adaptable and the sort of person who is always happy to help where ever you are needed, and
  • Did well in English and Math at school

To be considered for the traineeship, you will need to submit an application that includes a copy of your current resume, and a cover letter, no more than 3 pages that tells us about you, including:

  • How you meet the criteria above to be successful in the role
  • Your personal motivation for wanting to join the Council team
  • Your long-term career goals, and
  • What skills or qualities do you have that would make you a valuable asset to our team

The quality of your cover letter will be considered as part of the recruitment process as a demonstration of your accurate and concise written communication ability. You are encouraged to submit these as PDF documents to retain formatting and spacing.

The successful applicants will be subject to a pre-employment medical and a national police check.

Applicants wishing to undertake this traineeship who are on a visa must ensure that they hold an eligible visa class to allow them to undertake a full time traineeship for the 2 year duration of the traineeship. Details of eligible visa classes can be found at www.skills.tas.gov.au.
