Assistant Childcare Director (2IC)

About the role
This role is a mix of on and off the floor. You will work on the floor as required as a floater across all age-groups to provide leadership, mentoring and support, and to drive improvement. Your non-contact time will focus on centre management tasks including compliance, reporting and rostering.
Reporting to the Childcare Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
Assist with managing day-to-day operations to ensure ongoing compliance with NQF (Perth Service) and Centre Based Licencing (Cressy Service), safety, and other applicable regulations and requirements.
Assist with the delivery of high-quality learning programs for our childcare services covering over 60 long day care places and 40 OSHC places across 2 services.
Assist with administration, resourcing/rostering, staff management, and reporting.
Provide mentoring, professional development, and leadership for our team of educators to deliver enriched quality learning programs and environments for the children and their families.
Promote and support the understanding of the planning cycle, the Early Years Learning Framework, My Time Our Place, and the National Quality Framework throughout both Services
Proactively seek to identify quality improvement across the services, and assist with implementation of these improvements
Performing the role of Childcare Director in their absence

About you
You will be passionate about Early Childhood Education and take pride in making a positive difference to families and the team. You will be a great communicator with both adults and children, and you will be proactive in your approach to care and support. You will also have a sound understanding of the health and safety risks involved with working with children and be able to demonstrate sensitivity, patience, and kindness.
You must have (Essential):
A diploma in Early Childhood Education, as approved by Australian Children’s Education and Quality Authority (ACEQUA), or currently undertaking with a 50% completion (minimum)
At least 2 years in an Assistant Director / 2IC role, or similar leadership position such as Educational Leader or Room Leader
At least 1 year of experience managing and mentoring a team of more than 10 educators
At least 5 years Hands-on Educator experience, working with children aged 0-5 years
Thorough knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Framework (NQF), and relevant regulatory frameworks
Proven ability to establish positive relationships with educators and families
Tasmanian Working With Vulnerable People Registration, or ability to obtain
A current Australian Drivers Licence
First Aid Qualifications, or a willingness and ability to successfully undertake this training
A suitable level of physical fitness to perform the role safely, and the willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical that includes a comprehensive musculoskeletal and fitness assessment
A recognised Bachelor of Education - Early Childhood qualification as approved by ACEQUA or actively working towards would be advantageous.

Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement 2022-2025. The remuneration package for this role will be negotiated with the successful applicant, commensurate with their experience and formal qualifications.
