The Significant Tree Register is now ready for nominations.

Posted on February 20, 2025

The Northern Midlands Local Provisions Schedule to the Tasmanian Planning Scheme contains a register of significant trees throughout the municipality that due to their age, landscape values or cultural significance require special consideration when they may be affected by applications for development. In order that the register reflects the current needs and concerns of our community, the Northern Midlands Council is seeking nominations of significant trees to be considered for addition to the current significant tree register. Nominations will be considered and reported to a meeting of the Council, and application will be made to the Tasmanian Planning Commission to include successful nominations into the planning scheme (Local Provisions Schedule) by way of a planning scheme amendment.

Nominations may be made by any person, on the specified form (follow directions below). It is also available in a paper copy at the Council Offices, 13 Smith St, Longford, or by email request to council@nmc.tas.gov.au

Nominations may be made until 28 April 2025.
